Stay & play package: Alwoodley and Moortown

Alwoodley and Moortown are only half a mile apart and their histories remain intertwined. Both courses are staples in GB&I top 100 courses lists and they offer enduring examples of MacKenzie’s design principles: his trademarks include large, undulating putting surfaces, manmade mounding sculpted to look entirely natural, asymmetrical bunkering that blends into its surroundings and greens often set at a slight angle to the direction of approach. Alwoodley & Moortown are offering a great-value stay-and-play package for the new season allowing you to experience two Top 100 courses in one trip.

For £299, play one course on a Sunday afternoon, stay overnight at a local hotel and then play the second course the following morning. The price includes breakfast and is based on two people sharing a room (Terms & Conditions apply).

This offer runs from April to October 2023.

Testimonials

I’d like to thank the Club for their hospitality last Wednesday. All four of us agreed that the course was tremendous & in wonderful condition. I played the course over twenty years ago but I’d forgotten how good it is, or maybe it’s improved! The very best in Yorkshire I think. Ganton the previous day was very good but the overall experience at Alwoodley was exceptional. To finish it off we had a lovely lunch on the terrace area with great service from the lads behind the bar.

The fact that Christine came out to talk to us before we played made all the difference too. Paul at Ganton also did this which is a really nice touch from any Club secretary.

I just wanted to send a quick note of thanks from all of our visiting party. We were unanimous in our enjoyment of the weekend. We all had a fantastic time, and even if the standard of golf wasn’t always what we would hope for the appreciation for the standard of course didn’t wain.

Both Moortown and Alwoodley courses were in excellent condition and provided a real (but fair) test of golf. Staff at venues were very welcoming and keen to help. I appreciated you and the Captain taking time to come and introduce yourselves yesterday. If you could also pass on my thanks to the teams in both clubhouses and the professionals I’d be grateful. All are a real credit to their clubs.

Thanks again, and I hope to visit again soon.

Just a quick note to say we’ve had a fab time this weekend.

The staff at Alwoodley were very good and particularly John the club pro. Very kind and thoughtful of him to make us up a couple of nearest the pin markers without being prompted.

A great value trip for two quality golf courses and a decent hotel.
