A hole-by-hole guide to Alwoodley
Learn more about all 18 holes – including tips on how to play them
Much of Alwoodley’s front nine plays with the prevailing westerly wind. Unusually, the par of the course as well as the yardages vary according to the tees you play off.
Off the championship Blue tees, the course measures 6,914 yards and plays to a par of 71.
From the competition White tees, it’s 6,688 yards and a par of 72.
Off the Yellows, used for the majority of day-to-day play, it’s 6,336 yards to a par of just 70.
And from the Reds, 5,579 yards and a par of 73.
Most good scores are built on the front nine, while preservation is the order of the day, certainly from the 13th onwards. All five of the par 4s on the way in are over 400 yards from the back tees while the final short hole, the 14th, is over 200 yards.
The only one of these holes that does not play into the prevailing wind is the 16th.
