Drivable for the big hitters, this short par-4 is an excellent early birdie chance. The tee shot, like many at Alwoodley, is semi-blind but take comfort in the fact that the fairway is generous, if corrugated. You can also make three the old-fashioned way by laying up and leaving a wedge approach. Beware though – the green is well bunkered and there’s out of bounds just through the back.
The most awkward pin position is front-left – on a shelf behind the bunker. In this case, a tee shot up the right of the fairway is essential to create a favourable angle for the approach.
